Band teacher -- is this legal? please read.?

I highly doubt it. At the school I teach at its illegal to even charge a lab fee for materials used in science labs; however things can vary by district. If I had to guess, I'd say your teacher is annoyed by the small, menial tasks ociated with teaching (making extra copies, replacing equipment) and has decided to make it "worth her while" by charging you. Tell your principal.
