Is being a cop in a small town more dangerous than crossing a street?

I've lived here for 12 years and in that time I've heard nothing at all about any cops being killed in the line of duty. I have however heard about 3 stories of people being killed while crossing the streets in this area. Most cops and cop apoligist rant all the time about they are "putting their lives on the line" and doing a service. This may be more true in heavily populated areas but not here. I would just like to thank all the brave people in this town who cross streets without a second thought of the danger involved. I think they should get free doughnuts at the local coffee shop for their bravery.
